Canterbury, Kent · Supported housing
A landlord with no shareholders and nothing to take out.
Ramaa Living owns and looks after two supported housing buildings in Canterbury, let to adults who need some support to live independently. It is a not for profit company limited by guarantee, so there is no profit for anyone to take.
What are you here to do?
Report a repair
Something broken in your flat or in the communal areas.
Open 02Who fixes what
The split between our responsibilities and yours, item by item.
Open 03Ask permission
A pet, an improvement to your home, or a guest staying over.
Open 04Make a complaint
If we have fallen short, we would rather hear it.
OpenThe point of it
No
profit
out
A company limited by guarantee without share capital has no shares, so nobody owns a slice of it and nobody can be paid a dividend. What the rent covers is the buildings, the repairs and the running of the organisation.
It is the honest difference between us and a private landlord holding the same two buildings, and it is the first thing you should know about us rather than the last.
The buildings
Two courts, both in Canterbury
What we are trying to do
Four things we hold ourselves to
A decent home, affordable
Housing that someone can actually afford, so that living independently stays possible for people who might otherwise not manage it.
Fairness and respect
Tenants are treated as adults with rights over their own home, not as recipients of a service.
Open about what we do
Transparent and accountable. If we have got something wrong we would rather be told.
Looking for the better way
Forward thinking about how the housing, and the service around it, can be improved.
